Tess Holliday comes out as pansexual: ‘I’ve been thinking a lot about my relationship to my own queerness’
She broke barriers in the modeling industry being the first to ever be signed at her size, 22.
Now she is breaking down boundaries around herself and her own sexual identity.

The model, 33, shared an anecdote that made her reflect on her own sexuality, though it was due to some mishearing of what she believed the question ‘Are you bi?’
‘I said, “Thank you so much for asking. I’ve been thinking a lot about my relationship to my own queerness, and I think the word pansexual speaks to me more than bi does.”‘
She shared that the man then had to clarify: “‘Thank you for telling me about that, but actually, I said, Are you buying?’ ”
I heard wrong: She thought a man asked ‘are you bi,’ when he actually asked ‘are you buying?’

The mother of two has been married to her husband Nicki since 2015 and they share a son, Bowie, three.
She also has a son Tyrone, 13, from a previous relationship.
She said discovering this part of her sexuality brought ‘relief.’
‘I feel like a lot of stuff in my life now makes sense,’ she said. ‘A lot of the things that I felt when I was younger make sense. A lot of the relationships that I had make sense.’

She continued: ‘I definitely have a sense of relief. I can connect with people on a more intimate level than I was before, because I don’t have to pretend to be someone I’m not.’
Holliday said that she is still in a fully monogamous relationship with Nick, but enthusiastically replied “Yeah!” when asked if she would be with a woman.
“I might not know, like, what to do. But I feel like I’d figure it out,” she said.
